Outfoxed
Dart looked at Laura and the cottage at the same time somehow.
"I'm scared," Laura cried. She breathed heavily. The thing coming out of the cottage got closer and closer.
"Oh no!" Dart cried. "A fox!" she screamed.
"A fox!" Laura said cheerfully. "Yay!" she cried. "A fox! A fox!"
"Why are you happy about a fox?" Dart said. "They eat frogs," she continued.
"Because they're my favorite animal," Laura said. "We should try talking to it."
"No way!" said Dart. "I feel like the same thing is happening as when you convinced me to go into Hello."
"Well, I'm talking to it," Laura said.
"Not again!" said Dart, as she watched Laura walk over to the fox with a smile on her face.
------
At the same time on the train, Kitty said, "Where are we even going? Fennec where are you?"
"I'm right here," Fennec said. "I was looking at the TV in the caboose."
"You mean the television?" Kitty said.
"Television is the same as TV," said Fennec. "There's no driver for the train," she said.
"No driver?" Kitty shrieked. She was also stunned to hear this news.
"I think this train is... well, um..." Fennec said. "A trick," she finished.
"We are outfoxed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kitty yelled.
------
Later, at Hello...
"Hi, I'm Laura," Laura said to the fox.
"Gina," said the fox with a sly look on her face. "Will you come to my cottage?" Gina said.
"I would love to," Laura said with a happy smile on her face.
"Don't!" Dart cried, pulling Laura back. "You know what that sly look means," she said. "She's gonna trick you!" she yelled into Laura's ear.
"Okay. Okay," said Laura. "I've got a trick up my sleeve," she said, pulling on a jacket.
"Where did you even get that?" asked Dart.
"It was in the magazine I was looking at," Laura said. Then she walked back to Gina.
"I would love to go in your cottage," Laura said, with a sly look on her face.
The fox laughed an evil laugh. Laura just ran straight ahead into the cottage and hid.
"Help!" cried a muffled voice.
"Aah!" Laura almost yelled. She walked closer to the noise. She crept on four this time. It hurt a lot to walk on that floor.
"I can't open the door," Laura said to whoever was in there. Then she had an idea. Maybe not turning could open the door, but pulling could open the door. She pulled on it and pulled on it and pulled on it. She opened it alright! The door was even laying on the ground now. She snuck inside quietly. Her feet were stomping on this floor and it didn't hurt this time.
When Laura saw who was in there gagged, she gasped. "Anna?" she said. She raced over there and took off the gag.
"Laura?" Anna said.
"It's really me," Laura said. "And is it really you Anna?" she continued.
"It is me Laura!" said Anna. "Oh no!"
"Anna what?" said Laura.
"Lindsay's coming," said Anna.
"Lindsay? Who's Lindsay?" Laura said.
"Gina's sister," Anna said. "She sneaks up whenever you least expect it. She's really noisy too."
"Well, we've got to get out of here," Laura said. "And I'd love to introduce you to my friend Dart."
"Who is this?" Dart said when they finally got out.
"Anna," said Laura.
"Who is Anna?" said Dart.
"She's my friend," said Laura. "I can tell you what type of species she is."
"She looks pretty human-ish to me," said Dart.
"Not human," said Laura.
"Really? Really?," said Dart, staring at Laura.
"Not human," said Laura again.
"She looks pretty human-ish to me," said Dart again.
"She's a robot!!!" yelled Laura, probably loud enough that the whole world could hear her. Kitty and Fennec heard her, Kitty's mom and her siblings could, Laura's sister could, Dart's family could, the caracal that Kitty rescued Fennec from, everyone could, even the cactus, which was Laura's pet cactus!
"I definitely heard you," said Dart. "Now let's go get Gina!"
"And Lindsay!" said Anna.
